Grocery Store Coupons101
START COLLECTING COUPONS,
even if it’s an item that you usually do not purchase,
many times you will find these items on sale while shopping and realize that if you had
printed the coupons, the product would have been free and possibly even given you an overage
which would have been deducted at checkout:)
Internet Coupons: {coupons you can print at home on your computer}
Our favorite sites for printing coupons are Coupons.com, Smart Source, and Red Plum just to name a few.
Newspaper Coupons: These come as sales circular inserts in the Sunday Paper.
Looks for Smart Source, Procter & Gamble, and Red Plum.
Store coupons: {Watch for coupons in the store.}
Catalina- printable coupons that is handed to you with your receipt at the store,
usually a voucher for “store cash”. This is one of the best ways to get items free!
Peelies – peel off coupons found on products.
Blinkies – found in the aisle at the store spitting out coupons (blinking black box).
Tear Pads- Usually displayed next to the product in store.
You must first get organized, learn to wait for that great sale!
Filing Method: Can save a lot of time but, you will have to spend time clipping before you can shop.
Don’t clip until you are ready to use them. With this method you do not have to
waste excessive amounts of time clipping coupons.
Binder Organization: This is very important, get your self a binder and organized,
find a method that works good for you to quickly and easily
find the coupon you are looking for.
No-Coupon clipping Method: Don’t clip inserts, just place them in a sheet protector
along with a list of all of the coupons in the insert. Simply copy and paste
your coupon list from the preview to a word or notepad doc and print it.
Then file it in your in a binder.
Clipping Coupons: You do not have to do all the work, that is what coupon sites and blogs are for.
We recommend that you get multiple sales circulars each week. Try to get a minimum of four,
will find that clipping the coupons is much easier if you stack each matching page
from all of your circulars together and cut all of your inserts at once!
Look For Sales -
Just keep in mind, you may have to hold a coupon for a while before you use it, wait for a sale and
resist the urge to use your coupons on non sale items when possible.
Products on sale plus coupons = much better savings.
When you find that item on sale, pair up some coupons and you will make you self proud,
purchase as you can if the price is right! This is how we build a stockpile.
You must break your self of that bad habit of darting out to the store on a whim,
that means paying FULL PRICE…you must exercise some self control and you will soon find yourself with stock
piles of food while spending much less.
Plan your menu and meals around your stock pile and sale items.
Couponer language can be confusing, trying to figure out all of the coupon abbreviations, acronyms and terms that couponers use to describe shopping. Here is a list of the most commonly used coupon acronyms and a short descriptions to to help the beginner on their way to savings!
